Wedding Reception Spaces

Congratulations! After the Ceremony is over you’ll be wanting to celebrate with your guests. You may like to have welcome drinks from our Canoe Bar beside Bridesmere lake or stroll back for drinks on the lawn in front of Swallow Barn. There’s lots of space for guests to mingle over a glass of bubbly and nibbles, play games and chill out before the Wedding Feast in Swallow Barn.

With guests fed and watered the evening entertainment gets under way. Whether it’s a band, disco or ceilidh, guests will love the space and ambiance of the barn. Outside, alongside the atmospherically uplit Swallow Barn, sit down around the fire pit and enjoy its warmth whilst taking in the Dartmoor views and later on the stars.

Swallow Barn

Swallow Barn comfortably seats 110 guests (150 for the evening celebrations). It is a traditional Linhay barn that has been lovingly restored and has an understated rustic elegance, with plenty of windows that allow light to flood in.

The barn’s wood-burner provides warmth if there’s an evening chill in the air and with the fairy lights and hanging tea-light lanterns, creates a magical romantic atmosphere. The elevated stage area works well for the top table and afterward if you are having an evening party for a band or DJ.

The Corn Barn

The Corn Barn is an open fronted Linhay Stone Barn. It is a versatile second covered Reception Area and can be used for drinks, games, nibbles and grazing tables. A perfect spot for a Photo Booth, skittle alley or other wedding activity. Also a good spot for an evening catering van.

The Lawn and Stretch Tent

The Lawn provides an area for guests to mingle and play games. We have giant jenga, corn hole, kubb, table football and table tennis for guests to enjoy. The Stretch Tent gives the area a Festival vibe with fairy lights, seating and hay bales. The stunning fire pit provides a focal point later on for guests taking a break from dancing to chill out.

Food and Drink

You choose your caterers, but we can give you recommendations, whether it’s a silver service plated meal, hog roast or street food style catering van. There are fantastic local options to cater for a wide range of styles and tastes and prices.

We provide a well stocked reasonably priced pay bar throughout the day. We have discounted drink packages available to pre-buy, can provide drinks tokens or set up a bar tab. If you would like to bring your own wine for the Wedding Feast and toast fizz there is a £10 per bottle corkage charge.

And so to bed….

When carriages depart you can wend your way up the track to the secluded off-grid love nest, where you can sit under the stars by the fire pit after the excitement of the day and enjoy some well earnt time alone together.

Then in the morning meet up with friends and family and carry on the celebrations…
