The Ceremony

Clifford Barton is licensed for Wedding Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships. We offer a choice of three licensed locations.

Bridesmere Bridge

The stunning timber framed Bridesmere Bridge, overlooking Bridesmere Lake. It’s about an 8 minute wander down a leafy track, between a woodland nature reserve and rolling Devon countryside to reach your friends and family at the lakeside, overlooking wild flowers meadows with swallows and martins swooping over the lake. Car access is possible for those that are not up to the walk. If it floats your boat, make an entrance across the lakes on Stand up Paddleboards, guaranteeing a ceremony your guests will never forget.

As well as a uniquely special place to tie the knot, Bridesmere Bridge offers an idyllic spot to have drinks and canapes,  a cream tea or arrange for the luxury cake van to bring afternoon tea. Take a stroll around the lake with your wedding party before returning to Swallow Barn to continue your celebrations.

The Corn Barn

The Corn Barn is an attractive open fronted stone Linnay barn. It is a versatile area that can be used as a second reception area, but it is also a good back up location for a Ceremony on Bridesmere Bridge in case of bad weather.

Swallow Barn

Swallow Barn as well as the main reception area can also be used as a Ceremony Location. The Stage works very well for the Ceremony, the large window showering light on the Bride and Groom and ensures everyone gets a good view of the service. This works especially well for smaller weddings.

The Willow Arbour

The Willow Arbour, also overlooking Bridesmere Lake, will shortly be licensed for truly natural weddings.
